At Quantum Medical Research, we utilize the BactoBox—a state-of-the-art impedance flow cytometer—to provide precise, lab-grade quantification of your homemade yogurt and probiotic cultures.
Unlike traditional plate counting which can take days, or standard microscopy which is prone to human error, our system detects and counts microbes based on their unique electrical signatures. This allows us to distinguish between intact, viable cells and cellular debris with extreme accuracy.
Service Cost: $100 USD
Includes sample preparation, BactoBox analysis, and a digital report of total and viable cell counts.
IMPORTANT: Scheduling Your Analysis
Do not ship samples without prior confirmation. To ensure the highest accuracy, live bacterial samples must be analyzed immediately upon arrival at our facility. We operate on a scheduled basis to ensure the flow cytometer is calibrated and ready for your specific sample.
Step 1: Contact Us First Before mailing anything, please contact us to schedule your testing window. We will assign you a specific “Intake Date” to ensure your sample is not sitting in a mailbox degrading.
Step 2: Prepare Your Sample

Collect approximately 5-10ml of your yogurt or liquid culture.

Place in a sterile, leak-proof vial (double bagging is highly recommended).

Cold Chain: We recommend shipping with an ice pack to preserve current viability numbers.
Step 3: Overnight Shipping Once your Intake Date is confirmed, you must ship your sample via Overnight Delivery (UPS Next Day Air or FedEx Priority Overnight).

Note: We do not accept samples sent via standard ground shipping as the bacterial die-off rate renders the data useless.
